Welcome to Forever Angels!
Forever Angels Baby Home is the realisation of a dream Amy Hathaway had as a young child after watching images of the Ethiopian Famine on the News back in 1985. She remembers stating quite adamantly to her parents, even at the young age of 6 or 7, that she wanted to help babies in Africa when she grows up... and Forever Angels is her dream come true.
Amy is a Primary School Teacher by profession and is married to Ben who is an IT Manager. Together they have 5 adopted Tanzanian children and live on site at Forever Angels Baby Home as Managers.
Amy and Ben moved to Tanzania in 2002, initially working at the International School. Through the process of adopting their first son, Barnabas, they visited many orphanages and hospitals where orphan children were being very poorly cared for... and Amy decided that her dream could become a reality sooner than she had planned!
Amy has incredibly supportive family in England who all stood by her and Ben from the outset - fundraising, advising,
setting up our UK Charity (Forever Angels UK) and eventually becoming Trustees. The entire family are still totally
dedicated to Forever Angels and its success would not be possible without the whole family's passion, hard work and
commitment. Forever Angels UK is responsible for agreeing the objectives and direction of the Baby Home, managing the
allocation of resources, and promoting the awareness of the orphan problem in Tanzania.
Forever Angels opened its doors in August 2006, and since then has cared for over 120 babies, managing to reunite or find families for over 55 children, and having approximately 50 children aged 0 to 5 years in care at any time.
